Canet de mar is a charming town on the Mediterranean coast, well known for its modernist architecture. The nearby sandy beach (2,5 Km long) retains its natural air, though there are a number of beach cafés dotted on the sand to enjoy a drink or a coffee. Just next to Canet is the Marina of Arenys only three kilometres away. Canet de Mar is surrounded by a number of small coastal towns and is well connected to other settlements on the coast by train and main road, with local roads leading to villages hidden in the mountains behind. Indeed the train station (RENFE) is only a few minutes from el Petit Palauet. Canet is a perfect destination for those fond of walking, given its scenic promenade walk and “modernism route”. It is also possible to visit a marvellous medieval castle, which hosts classical music concerts in summer. Last but not least, Canet de mar is a mere 40Km from Barcelona, with Girona 59km away and France 110 km.
